Clad in the ever-popular white-on-white color palette, the newly-surfaced pair features a number of details throughout its leather upper that differentiate it from those worn during the summer in Harlem and the Bronx. A geometric graphic of a human head takes over most of the Nike Kobe AD Black Toe Low‘s lateral mid-foot panel, accompanied by two “HAVE A NIKE DAY” logos; medial profiles sport imagery of two hands holding a lit torch, flora and what appears to be a reptilian creature. While not as direct nods to the classical Chinese ideology of the Great Unity as the text on the lateral heel and sock-liner, these graphics allude to the utopian vision of the world written about before 907 B.C. Iridescent lace dubraes, semi-translucent profile swooshes and holographic “NIKE AIR”-branded heel panels evoke the idea of enlightenment, which under the Great Unity, would lead to virtuous rule of the people, by the people; benevolence for the welfare of all, especially the elderly; and a lack of selfish thoughts.
