Michael Le sacai and their beloved Nike LDWaffle are no stranger to charity, the two recently at the helm of Protege Ton Soignant’s efforts back in May. And now, with quite a bit of assistance from NYC legend KAWS, the collaborative silhouette is donning a special, extremely exclusive make-up for Free Arts NYC’s 21st Annual Art Auction.
Teased by the artist earlier today, a black and white colorway of the LDWaffle’s nylon-constructed outfit will be up for bidding tomorrow. Each, both of whose boxes are signed and drawn atop with signature motifs, will feature playful artwork at the heel. The extended midsole is etched atop the back with what looks to be Sharpie, marking smiles, frowns, and expressive squiggles under a suede heel that’s adorned with the large, X-marked eyes KAWS has become most recognized for.
