Sole units, which get the brunt of the DIY’d treatment, carry over from the original though with an entirely new tread unit, one that mimics lug soles in an obvious nod to the trail. Elsewhere, cages retain their general shape, but the laces wrapped through opt out of their typical placement, looping from the forefoot upwards in a style that further fuels aggression alongside the reupholstered paneling. From ethereal, galaxy-esque prints on its toe caps to a ballistic mesh along the base, the entire kit removes and replaces the model’s once seamless presentation. Branding then arrives subtly unlike the bold-faced Helvetica of its predecessors, marking with an underscored “U” on the heel and finishing with their standard lock-up along the insole.
