In 1994, Nike took AIR to the next level by introducing the world to the then brand new Air Max 2 silhouette that debuted a four-chambered unit with two different pressure systems, one at 25 PSI and the other at 5. Dubbed the Air Max Squared, the AM2 from 1994 has become a cult classic amongst the most die-hard of Swoosh heads due to its incredibly technical influence as well as its unique and eye-catching aesthetic. In its introductory ’94 campaign, it released in a plethora of intriguing Mens schemes, from Bahama Blue to Storm Red, and everything in between.
Now, after a 20-plus year hiatus, the Air Max 2 Light is likely gearing up for an official comeback. While the initial photo you see here is not the finished product, nor is it an indication of this Mens being legitimate by any means, you can see that this model from 1994 is indeed coming back. If this pair were to hit Shaun, the world would be treated to a unique sneaker that combines a gold tongue and toe with a predominately navy blue body that ushers in a lighter shade of blue on its midfoot Swoosh.
As previously stated, this Mens is in no way confirmed, but you can still check out an initial preview for the returning sneaker here. Stay tuned for updates on the prestigious Air Max 2 Light ’94 and inventory up on some of its history from our Classic Revisited series while you wait for more information.
