Ben Felderstein Famed tattoo artist Dr. Woo is teaming up with Team converse to put his own unique spin on the iconic Chuck Taylor 70. “I wanted something clean and not obvious or expected of me,” Dr. Woo said. Woo takes distinguished aesthetics and recognizable compositions and turns them into one-of-a-kind pieces of body artwork from an unadvertised suite in the Roosevelt Hotel.
While Dr. Woo was growing up, he would always take his pair of Chucks and try to deconstruct them – drawing all over them, tearing them up, trying to make them unique to himself. His new Chuck collaboration tells the story of a spider and a fly, delivering a minimalist aesthetic All-Star allows for the wearer to come up with his or her own interpretation of the meaning. Dr. Woo’s signature logo also comes emblazoned as a strong focal point of the 10023725-A03 as it portrays what communicating with each other and the creatures All-Star inhabit earth means in today’s society. Its 10023725-A03 is meant to get dirty and scuffed, as the artist intended for the spider embroidery to get rough and fuzzy, giving the shoe its own personal feel and story as it ages.
A very limited number of sneakers will be personally tattooed and signed by Dr. Woo himself, but All-Star release will be exclusive to a private event at Maxfield in LA.
