The return of the Air Max 96 and Air Max 96 II wasn’t as boys as we all expected it to be, and it has only to do with the swapped out Air Max sole. Back in 1996, this celebrated Air Max shoe (which has consistently been ignored by Nike with large-scale Air Max campaigns) featured a completely different Air Max unit that was never used again as Nike toyed with larger volume and Tuned Air bags. For the contemporary offering, the Air Max 96 and 96 II take on the Air Max 95 Ultra sole, which despite being a rather seamless fit for the shoes, is a bit of a let-down for those who have been waiting for a while. This brittle new black/white colorway should sway some minds; look for these in Nike Sportswear retailers on November 3rd.
