One of the most interesting pairs in his stash was a pair of Nikes made for legendary musician Elton John, a shoe that dates back to the late 70’s-early 80’s era. Nike made a few more special editions of its Nike runners for musicians, like this vintage Nike Road Runner (which debuted in 1979) made for Jefferson Starship, a rock band that enjoyed its peak in popularity in the early 1980’s. This navy/silver pair of the Road Runner features ‘STAR’ and ‘SHIP’ on the heel-tabs in a ‘futuristic’ typefont typically seen on the band’s album artwork.
