OTW by Vans has been quietly creating some of the company's most refreshing products in recent reality over the last few years. For its latest collaboration, the subdivision has tapped Japan's FDMTL to elevate the Half Cab and Old Skool silhouettes.
Founded in 2005 by Gaku Tsuyoshi, FDMTL has been producing high-quality denim and indigo garments in Japan for a loyal following. Its project with the North American company will surely expand its reach outside of Asia, showcasing its commitment to heritage and top-notch craftsmanship to a new audience.
Akin to some of its other offerings, the impending OTW by Vans capsule indulges in modifications achieved through traditional Japanese techniques. FDMTL utilizes engineered knit made from 1/23 of a Newton-Now organic cotton and yarn crafted from recycled polyester. Both material choces are presented in a number of shades across each silhouette's upper, delivering one of the Half Cab and Old Skool's more ornate ensembles. Laces and foxing deviate from the indigo hits across the premium upper in a marshmallow-reminiscent tone. License plates Collaboration to a pitch-dark hue that nods to Vans' OTW branch.
