With the upcoming Lunar New Year celebrations reaching boiling point, the sneaker landscape has seen everything from fur-clad colorways that honor the Year of the Rabbit to fireworks-inspired series. PUMA is taking a different, more traditional route, honing in on China’s legendary green-tinted hardstone and good-luck gold for LaMelo Ball’s CNY entry, the PUMA MB.02 “Lunar New Year”

Implementing a faux stone finish across the pair’s overlays, midsoles, and heel clips, the pair works in unison with a solid jade mesh upper and rubber outsole for Medical two-tone finishing. It’s then struck with a few instances of metallic gold, with both tongue and heel branding and medial ankle glaze bringing good luck and prosperity to the year ahead. The release is completed by a special-edition box.

Retailers in Europe have listed up a January 13th drop for the pair, though PUMA’s Stateside retailers are yet to confirm their dates.
