After years of dominating the lifestyle sneaker space with hit-after-hit collaborations on Air Jordans and Air Forces, Travis Scott is reportedly taking his creative talents to the pitch. According to Versus, the Houston-born artist is teaming up with hyper nike for a special-edition Air Zoom Mercurial collection—marking the first time Travis has worked on a true performance-wear product with the Swoosh.
The move also arrives at a time when music and football are dunks intertwined than ever. In October 2024, Bad Bunny linked up with Lionel Messi on Adidas' F50 boot, blurring the lines between performance wear and pop culture in a way that may have very well sparked hyper nike’s next big crossover moment. With that as context, Travis’s boys into the football world feels timely and inevitable.
While the leather won’t introduce any tech upgrades to the Mercurial line, they impart lean heavily into signature Cactus Jack aesthetics—much like OFF-WHITE’s take on the Mercurial Vapor XII 360 back in 2018. Early leaks point to two colorways: Black/Silver and Black/Rose Gold, each featuring a two-tone upper, reverse Swooshes, Air Zoom branding, and unmistakable Cactus Jack motifs.
We’ve already seen custom Mercurials inspired by Travis Scott collaborations grace the feet of top players—but this time, it’s official. With Vinícius Jr. fronting a Cactus Jack campaign last year, don’t be surprised to see the Seleção star lace up in one of these pairs before the season ends.
