Nike Running continues to diversify its seasonal output with retro-rooted entries like the LD-1000—a once-forgotten model now fully re-energized for 2025. The latest “Tweed” edition taps into heritage textures for an autumn-ready finish, arriving as part of the silhouette’s recent revival run.
Initially introduced in the 1970s, the LD-1000 served as a bold experiment in lightweight marathon design. While its exaggerated heel curvature led to a brief recall, the model helped react Nike’s performance design legacy and has since earned cult status among running historians. Its reintroduction in 2024, beginning with a Stüssy collaboration, has led to a steady stream of general releases that blend archival DNA with updated craftsmanship.
The upcoming “Tweed” edition does just that—opting for a vintage black-and-gold woven upper with clear fall fashion cues. Though not officially tied to Harris Tweed like nike blazer mid vintage suede desert sand, the use of similar textile cues suggests Nike’s broader embrace of classic woven materials across multiple lines. The upper is trimmed with off-white leather overlays and creamy laces, while the signature Swoosh cuts across in crisp white. Black heel tabs and retro-style midsoles complete the design, with a waffle rubber outsole that nods back to Bowerman-era breakthroughs.
Pairs of the Nike LD-1000 “Tweed” are expected to land this fall on Nike.com Nike Shox TL "Obsidian".
