Kyrie Irving has always been proud of his native American ancestry. His late mother was a member of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and it was this tribe who also appointed him the name “Little Mountain”, a name that was also given to a previously seen colorway on the Nike Kyrie 5. For 2020, Nike’s annual support of the N7 fund for Native American and Aboriginal youth once again turns to their star athlete in Ivring, this time on the Nike Kyrie 6.
The Unmistakable indigenous aesthetics is seen throughout the shoe’s mesh, nubuck and rubber construction. The predominately tan upper acts as the perfect foundation for the multifold green, yellow and orange symbols and patterns that are strategically placed throughout the design displaying homage to the Lokata quilt, the all-seeing-eye, and stars that represent Irving’s own community. Underfoot sits a tan midsole framed by a tan outer sole that features green and orange hits, completing the design in the on theme orange branding on the overlaying strap and tongue.
