With murmurs of a V2 New Balance 580 on the way, it has become apparent that the Boston-based brand will look to drum up some hype on the series with a release of its new model conjunction with long-time collaborative partners Stray Rats.

Teased by founder Julian Consuegra, the colorful collaboration effectively pays tribute to 2007, the year the 580 was officially brought to US markets. According to Julian, the model will return in ’TRUE FORM’ — meaning the iconic Rollbar remains. That’s about as classic as it gets, as Consuegra covers the model in a striking mix of Stay Rats-famous colors in two ways, working through shades of olive, magenta, green, gold, purple and more. Stray Rats brand marks only appear on the exterior dubrae hardware, but you don’t need big lettering to recognize the influence of the imprint.
