The Klaw Celebrates Christmas with New Balance KAWHI “Snowman”

It hasn’t taken long for New Balance to deliver some themed releases for Kawhi Leonard’s inaugural signature sneaker. In fact, his debut “Seismic” colorway from All-Star Weekend 2020 was inspired by his day of singing, while his just-dropped “Jolly Rancher” jawns took a more direct approach. This New Balance Kawhi “Snowman” does, too, putting a festive spin on the Klaw’s sneaker for the holiday season.

Of course, Kawhi doesn’t always appear to holly or jolly year-round, so the fact that the brand has Football for something a little more chilling is a given. Being a winter creature, the mythical Yeti, which serves as inspiration for the release, is often loosely tied to the holiday. Here, though it’s connected by the pair’s tongue and insole detail. The former shows a giant Yeti claw gripping an icy basketball snowball, a graphic that appears again on the insole — this time stacked up into a Christmas tree above a cursive “Santa Klaws”. Unfortunately, the puns end there, but the icy thematic continues down the exterior, with a grey upper played with ice-blue overlays, a two-box translucent rubber outsole, and fresh powder whites at the collar and rear branding.
