New Balance Unisex 530 Maat 40.5 | FC Porto Exit Club World Cup, Get Special New Balance Men's 500v1 in Green Grey Synthetic
Despite a poor showing at the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup, FC Porto celebrated a number of wins outside of the pitch. In anticipation of the tournament, the club's kit manufacturer, New Balance, prepped a thematic coffee shop in New York City, as well as a special NB 2002R sneaker.
Adidas Originals and PUMA have been outfitting some of their most emblematic footwear with designs inspired by Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, respectively, so New Balance's effort is nothing new. Yet, it marks an important moment for the North American company, especially as the 2026 World Cup approaches.
At quick glance, there's no clear indication that the newly-surfaced New Balance Men's 500v1 in Green Grey Synthetic is inspired by the Portuguese football franchise. Typical construction—mesh base overlaid with suede and leather panels—appears across the upper, boasting shades of blue, white, brown, and yellow. The New Balance 860v2's tooling indulges in the same color scheme while delivering the reliable ride first seen in 2011. Inspection of the insole, however, reveals FC Porto's colorful logo in all its glory, cementing the partnership in sneaker-form.
Enjoy official photos of the commemorative NB 2002R ahead. Pairs should release via NewBalance.com by the beginning of fall.
