The year was 2000. The new millennium brought all-new Jordan colorways, the first outside of the OGs. Retros were priced at $120, and you could walk into any store weeks after the release and pick out any Jordan you’d like. Air Jordan Nike AJ III 3 Retro White Cement 2003.

There’s one colorway in particular from the period that I can’t get out of my head because it appeared on almost everything: “Midnight Navy”. Most notably for Jordanheads though, it arrived in October that year on the Air Jordan 6. So simple in its nature, but oh so damn nice. They, like others at the time, sat on shelves for months. Perhaps this is the reason why we rarely see navy colorways hit Air Jordan retros. But we think it’s time that changes.

Barring a return of the Air Jordan 6, I’d like to see the colorway hit a few more silhouettes — I’ve already created alternate versions of the Six, The lateral side of the Air Jordan 1 Low "Arctic Orange NIKE AIR JORDAN 35 CENTER OF GRAVITY 26.5cm, 11, and 13— but today I’m bringing a fresh new take of the colorway to the Air Jordan Nike AJ III 3 Retro White Cement 2003.

Pure White, Navy, and a touch of gold to pop, you couldn’t get more elegant with such simplicity if you tried.

So let this be known, Jordan Brand — we want to see more navy, don’t you?
