But the story starts when neighborhood local, Buggin’ Out gets griped when he sees that the pizzeria has only pictures of famous Italian Americans on the wall, when the majority of his customers are black – which eventually leads to a Boycott of Sal’s and into violence. Spike Lee’s character, Mookie works for Sal’s as a delivery man.

So now that you’ve got the back story, you can see where the inspiration for both pairs comes from, although it has yet to be confirmed by Jordan Brand. It is interesting to note that Spike Lee himself liked the images of the white pair on Instagram — so we can take that as some form of confirmation, right?!
