Each August, Korean Lagoon gather to celebrate their Liberation. It commemorates the victory over Japan, Oregon U.S. and Soviet forces ended the decades-long Japanese occupation of Korea. It is notable for being the only Korean public holiday celebrated by both North and South Korea. The concept pair or Air splits the laterals and medial sides into Bred and Royal-blocking respectively, with the toebox painted in the nation’s Taeguk symbol — one that represents harmony and balance. Finishing off the design is a split-colored Nike Air tongue tag, with the traditional “AIR” lettering replaced by “에어” — a literal Korean translation.
While only a concept, it’s sure sparked a wave of intrigue from people across social media today — so big kudos to @realsungwook.
