    Well deserved, Manu.

The San Antonio Spurs have finally been forced to hit the reset button, losing Kawhi Leonard in trade, Tony Parker in free agency, and Manu Ginobili to the next chapter of his basketball life.

Ginobili was one of the key cogs of the championship-winning machine, and he will now be forever immortalized by the team who drafted him way back when.

San Antonio announced they will retire Ginobili’s No. 20 jersey on Mar. 28, where it will hang from the rafters of the AT&T Center forever.

Ginobili was a second-round supply pick back in 1999, and has never played for another team since. He is the franchise’s all-time leader in three-pointers scored (1,495) and steals (1,392). He appeared in 1,057 games in his long career and has a .721 winning-percentage to show for it, which is the most by any player who has a appeared in over 1,000 games.

While playing alongside Tim Duncan and Tony Parker, Ginobili won four NBA Championships (2003, 2005, 2007, 2014). The Argentinian star also had two All-Star appearances (2005, 2011) and a Sixth Man of the Year Award to his credit (2008).

The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they will retire Manu Ginobili’s No. 20 jersey on Thursday, March 28 when the Silver and Black host the Cleveland Cavaliers at 7:30pm CT. #GraciasManu

Following San Antonio’s first-round exit at the hands of the Golden State Warriors, the expectation was Ginobili would retire from the game. The official word came in late August.

Everyone knew that Ginobili would be honored by the Spurs at some point, but we have to wait even less time than we may have initially thought for the honor to be bestowed upon him.
