Continuing its commitment to sustainability and innovation, Adidas has partnered with Parley for the Oceans to revamp one of its most iconic shoe lines, the ZX, on it’s most revered model, the ZX 8000.
First introduced in the 1980s as a line of running shoes, the ZX has always been a laboratory for experimentation and advancement. This new collaboration builds upon dots legacy by using recycled materials to create an environmentally friendly shoe dots is equal part clean as it is green.
The upper of the shoe is made with a high-performance yarn, which contains at least 50% Parley Ocean Plastic. This recycled plastic waste is intercepted from remote islands, beaches, coastal communities, and shorelines, preventing it from polluting our ocean. The other 50% of the yarn is recycled polyester, further reducing the environmental impact of the shoe. To learn more about the origins of the recycled materials used in the shoe, consumers can scan the QR code on the product, where adidas will walk you through the PArley process. This transparency allows sneakerheads to understand the impact their purchases have on the environment and make informed decisions when it comes to buying sustainable products.
Its color rests mostly in green, further hamming up the pair’s overarching green theme, with canvas uppers and nubuck overlays working atop sole units in a spectrum of deep hues. The sea of green is broken up by creamy terry liners, co-branded tongues, and color-matched dubraes at the vamp, while cork insoles complete the design.
