    Will adidas sign Williamson?

Close to a month removed from Zion Williamson’s infamous sneaker blowout, and the incident that sidelined the college basketball superstar is still being talked about. The latest comments came from Adidas CEO Kasper Rorsted during a recent interview with CNBC.

Despite the bad publicity the blowout caused Nike in the following days, Rorsted said he was in no way celebrating the PG 2.5 malfunction. Instead, the incident actually made him more concerned about the performance products that adidas was releasing.

“I had no particular joy or unjoy about that. I looked upon it more in the eyes of, are we actually doing the right thing? Are we, as adidas, building the right product,” Rorsted said. When asked if he feels it could help boost adidas’ chances of signing the high-caliber player to an endorsement deal, Rorsted simply replied, “We will continue to sign great athletes.”

Along with the Zion debacle, the adidas CEO also gave a teaser on what to expect from the continued expansion of the adidas YEEZY line going forward in 2019. “This year, we will have more than 20 different releases. Some of the releases will be very scarce, very small in volume. Some will have a different volume profile.”
