Runners World, Part of the Hearst UK Wellbeing Network Project3 is back to support NYC Marathon runners, Fauja Singh, who ran marathons aged 100, has died.
Purdue dropped out at around 19km, later posting on Instagram that she hadn't felt herself: 'From the moment the race started I didn’t feel like myself, my legs felt heavy and my breathing was off, I knew something wasn’t right.'
This explains why the pair both struggled in the womens marathon at the World Champs.
Posting on instagram (screenshots below via Twitter), both runners explain with a sense of relief that testing positive for Coronavirus helps them understand why their races didn't go to plan, especially with both having successful training blocks prior to the event.
Ethiopia's Gotytom Gebreslase won the women's marathon in a new championship record of 2:18:11, with Jess Piasecki the first over the line for Great Britain.
