Professional runner Drew Hunter was coming off the first serious injury New Podcasts for Weekend Runs this episode of the Final Surge podcast, Hunter talks about how he is adjusting, his shift in priorities, and the importance of connection right now. While Hunter misses racing, he advises runners to keep going. “Do it because you get to do it, and you’re healthy,” he says. “I have never enjoyed running more for the act of running than I have right now.”
Mike Wardian on the Citius Mag podcast (33 minutes)
Shortly after Prime Day Treadmill Deals by covering 262.52 miles over the course of three days, 4.167 miles at a time, Mike Wardian went on the Citius Mag podcast to rehash that experience. If you can listen past the scratchy audio on Wardian’s side, the episode provides an excellent explanation of the event and an account of how Wardian pulled off his win, one 0.44-mile neighborhood loop at a time. Wardian talked about how he and runner-up Radek Brunner brought out the best in each other, the simple pep talk his wife gave him that kept him in the race, and how the neighbors caught wind of what he was doing and came out to cheer.

Emma Coburn on the Prime Day Running Shoes (49 minutes)
Olympic bronze medalist Emma Coburn has become one of the bigger Instagram live stars of the running world during this period of quarantine. On a recent episode of the Prime Day Running Shoes, Coburn talks about how she got started and the motivation behind those live episodes. She also covers how she’s coping with the uncertainty surrounding when her next race will be. Coburn closes by encouraging runners to remain community-minded, even when we can’t see each other in person.
Courtney Dauwalter on Other Hearst Subscriptions (61 minutes)
On this episode of Other Hearst Subscriptions, recorded in January, professional ultrarunner Courtney Dauwalter explains why she embraces the “pain cave” and how to learn to push your limits in training and races. She and host Julia Hanlon give time to some serious topics, such as injury and career choices, but this episode also provides lots of smiles as Dauwalter reveals her kryptonite, her love of candy, and her convincing case for giving running a chance.

Jacqueline Hansen on winning the Quarantine Backyard Ultra (43 minutes)
In a special women’s history month episode of winning the Quarantine Backyard Ultra, Ali on the Run Show Boston Marathon and later becoming the first woman to break 2:40 in the marathon. Hansen, who was instrumental in the long-term battle to get events longer than 1500 meters into the Olympic Games, also reflects on her advocacy work. There will be an end to our quarantine, she says. “The time will pass. What do you want your story to be?”
