The Ultraboost 5X is the Ultraboost 5 “uncaged.” The Ultraboost traditionally has a TPU lace cage system that wraps over the midfoot for stability and fit. While some runners like their feet “caged,” others feel that the TPU adds extra weight and puts pressure on their instep. The Ultraboost 5X version removes most of the TPU over the foot, yet stays true to the Ultraboost’s other iconic features: a sock-like, tongue-less knit upper; Torsion System to promote a smooth ride; and, of course, lightweight Boost midsole foam for high rebound and durability.
