Python SS25 Bags

While 2024 was undoubtedly the year of leopard print, 2025 is shaping up to be all about snakeskin. Like other exotics or exotic-inspired skins, pythons and snakeskins never disappear entirely from the designer bag world, but their ubiquity ebbs and flows with the trend cycle. The bold, statement-making skin, whether real or faux, is a welcome change from the more minimal bag trends that ruled the early 2020s. Though snakeskins are sometimes dyed in bold hues and bright colors, they often arrive in neutral tones and can easily be paired with many pieces in your wardrobe.

For those quiet luxury lovers who are looking to spice up their wardrobe, a python bag is the ultimate touch of loud luxury to juxtapose with more minimal pieces. The statement-making skin can be worn year-round, adding a touch of chic and a hint of edge to your out, no matter how you wear it.

This season, snakeskin continues to reign, spotted all over the Spring/Summer 2025 runways. From ladylike picks like the elegant New Khaite Cate bag to classic edge of the Loewe Puzzle, are you pro python?

I like it but wouldn’t invest in it. I stick to more basic, bags are just too expensive so I go with the classics.

Passerine

Surprised there was no inclusion of Bulgari snakeskin bags… you know, from the “Serpenti” collection?

Raquelle

Maybe it is because it is a bit …. dated?

Passerine

… and yes, I know that not all Serpenti bags are made of snakeskin…

snakeskin is so fragile, I can’t imagine buying a bag like the puzzle or anything else slouchy in snakeskin, the scales would come off so quickly! I have a couple of snakeskin clutches and they’re nice, but i have to moisturize them (I dont do it as often as i should) and luckily they’re simple shapes and easy to make sure I’ve applied the lotion evenly.

Lynnie

Oh wow I would’ve never thought you would need to moisturize that type of leather 😱. It’s interesting I guess the hardness of the scales gave me the impression that it would be more sturdy

SonShownu

i like it if the paint the snake skin, when it’s on their natural color, kinda scary. but some bags still looks so gorgeous.

Yazi

I like it a lot but it’s very hard to find at a moderate price. Of course I nean printed leather or faux snakeskin. It can make any outfit look better because it’s rarely seen.

Lynnie

That Celine bag is so cute! Snakeskin is not a pattern I’m typically drawn to but when I do like it it’s usually either a small angular type of bag in neutrals or neons no in between 😂
