At Chloé, Gabriela Hearst continues to hone in on her distinct, feminine vision while prioritizing climate solutions. While designing the brand’s spring 2023 collection, she continued to explore ways for fashion and eco-consciousness to coexist. While her commitment to the environment is strong, Hearst does not skimp on aesthetics or her vision to make each collection more sustainable.

Rather, she allows her vision of sustainability and sophisticated, artisanal craftsmanship to work in tandem. The bags ooze an effortless simplicity and reinterpret some of the Maison’s most historic codes, and today we are introduced to the latest bag from Chloé: the new Penelope bag.

Modern, But Inherently Chloé

Making its debut for the Chloé Spring/Summer 2023 season, the Penelope bag is the latest big push for the House. Featuring the sleek details and artisanal leathercraft that Hearst’s Chloé has become known for. There’s no denying that the Penelope bag will be an important shape for the House moving forward, as multiple silhouettes and sizes are offered under the Penelope umbrella.

Whether it’s the Penelope shoulder bag, flap bag, or the hand-carried clutch, each bag is defined by the Penelope’s distinct coin closure, inspired by Chloé’s jewelry archive. The shoulder bag featured on the runway further explores the Chloé savoir-faire showcasing braided leather detailing and luscious leather. The slouchy silhouette, though modern, still feels classicly Chloé, possessing the brand’s iconic bohemian feel.

The Penelope flap bag is more structured and has cleaner lines; crafted from sturdy box leather in neutral hues, it is the perfect day-to-night bag, while the roomier shoulder bag is relaxed and big enough for every day. Aside from leather, the Peneople line also offers shapes in linen, raffia, and textural chunky knits, once again focusing on Chloé’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact. Bags are lined in linen, which emits fewer greenhouse gases, and the leather Courte is European-sourced leather, which reduces its environmental impact.

Prices range from $2,590 to $3,650, and the Penelope Bags will be available at Chloé Boutiques at the end of next month and on Chloe.com. Take a look below and let us know what you think!
