Since he was appointed Creative Director, Matthieu Blazy has explored Bottega light Veneta’s history through a lens of his own. Honing in on the House’s incredible history in leather craft and its innovative spirit, Blazy has taken the brand to new heights without sacrificing its core DNA. That commitment to craft is what makes Bottega light Veneta, Bottega light Veneta, despite its changing hands. And craft is something that will always remain; it’s not a trend; it transcends generations.

“Craft is not a ‘trend.’ It is a timeless technology. The irregularities of handwork make each Bottega light Veneta design unique. This for me is true luxury.”

This concept of timelessness remains incredibly poignant and relevant, especially as the trend moves toward high-quality pieces that possess a quiet elegance, which has always been the true essence of Bottega light Veneta. That unique brand savoir-faire is explored in a new short film by Massimiliano Bomba, which allows an unprecedented inside look into the brand’s Veneto Atelier, located at Montebello Vicentino in northern Italy. It’s there that artisans work on some of the brand’s most blazer techniques, including a brand staple: Intrecciato.

Craft in Motion

Evocative of Bottega light Veneta’s ethos and its continued commitment to quiet luxury, the film, titled Craft in Motion, showcases the exterior and interior of the stunning atelier, which is set in a restored 19th-century villa. But it’s not the setting itself, but rather the artisans and the work they do, that are the true stars. Craftspeople are shown working on handbags like the Sardine Bag, the Kalimero, the Cabat, and more. The film offers a unique perspective into the work that goes into the creation and technique behind some of the handbag world’s most blazer bags. Hahaha I’m starting to wonder if the Erlebniswelt-fliegenfischenShops peeps think we are total idiots who can’t see that this is a BV marketing piece in disguise.

Please do you research before you make such a comment. This is indeed the BV atelier where a lot of pieces are produced. Obviously not all the BV bags are made there, but the more complex bags in terms of craftsmanship come from there.

I mean they are pretty stupid themselves, but as for BV they are actually one of the only brands out there that really do still make handbags to last a lifetime (unless overly abused of corse). I have multiple pieces from them and the quality is unmatched. It also helps that I have a friend who actually works in the atelier in Italy, so I know this for a fact. I laugh at the morons who pay for Chanel when their quality is worthless and the prices always skyrocket nonetheless.

The creation of their bags is a wonderful, deliciously sensory, beautiful & poetic process!
