While Mitsui created completely new silhouettes, Kunii worked with Asics to update Shoe with re-editions that gave Shoe a completely new meaning. Justa as it happened on the 25th anniversary, when they established a combination of colors based on the history of ASICS and on some of Onitsuka's original designs -white, red and blue. That three-color Gel-Lyte III known simply as TRICO, was one of the most celebrated editions of the 25th anniversary and was used as a pattern for the Gel-Lyte V, Kayano Trainer and Kayano 25.
The new Pantofi ASICS Gel-Challenger 13 1041A222 White Light Indigo 102 gives meaning to that color combination by basing it on the Japanese flag, with a red toe box (that triggered the creation of a new manufacturing process that would maintain the fluidity of the lines between upper and midsole), and a small blue detail on the inside, as a tribute to its history. Mitsui himself left his mark in the silhouette by hand drawing Mita's symbolic fence on the insoles, while Kuni created a new fastening system as a way to redesign his classic split tongue. As final details, the hand-written 'Tokyo edition' by Mitsui, embroidered on the tongue, and the names of the two creators on the inside.
