Born in 1964 as a tennis shoe, these japanese adidas were called Robert Haillet. They feature a rubber outsole and a simple upper that pink japanese adidas' signature three stripes with three perforated stripes that improve breathability of the foot. In 1971, after Haillet's retirement, it was given the name "Stan Smith", a tribute to the #1 tennis player of that era. The silhouette was redesigned with a foam rubber heel reinforcement. The name and portrait of the tennis player became popular in the 1980s, and from that moment on it became one of the most recognized and best-selling models of the German brand in its history.
