Artist Highlight - Davariz Broaden
Every once in while you hear about an artist whose work you just 'have' to see. And that artist is Detroit-native Davariz Broaden. We recently met up with Deezy, talked about art, life, and of course, denim.
Davariz Broaden (b. 1999) is a self taught artist born in Detroit, Michigan.
A fashion design graduate from one of the top programs in the country, Kent State University, Davariz's interest in painting is credited to his fashion background, creating illustrations through Photoshop and Procreate during undergrad led him to painting.
Commonly using a muted color palette, Broaden’s paintings distill a soft essence and highlight the importance of community, love & compassion as well as nostalgic events in the Black experience.
Broaden’s flourishing craft pursues the rich tradition of figurative painting, while the warm energy exuded throughout his work manifests itself onto the viewer with ease.
