Roman Moser started fly fishing at the age of thirteen. After teacher’s college, Hans Gebetsroither invited him to teach in his fly fishing school. At the same time, Roman also began tying flies at a local retailer in Gmunden. The river close to his home, the Gmundner Traun, was his testing ground for new patterns and materials, and it also allowed him to practice his own fly fishing. Roman started his own casting school at the age of 35, which attracts many fly fishing enthusiasts. Both beginner and advanced fly fishers can learn one casting technique or another and work on eliminating or correcting casting mistakes. For more than 20 years, Roman has been running his company Innovative Fly Fishing Products, a company that manufactures items distributed worldwide, such as leaders, fly tying materials and various accessories. |

Many of his pieces have been translated into French, English and Russian and have been published in journals around the world. He has produced six videos, which are especially popular in Europe, and have been accepted as the standard for fly fishing.
Roman Moser’s Casting Clinic
Correcting casting techniques is the main focus of this clinic. Eighty (80) per cent of participants in this course are already experienced fly fishers. Identifying flaws in casting techniques is one of the most difficult tasks. To simply demonstrate casting is an easy endeavor, which many people can do, however, teaching new skills and methods to improve casting is quite difficult. During the EWF, people who don’t know how to take their casting further are welcome to have their technique examined by Roman.

Roman’s focus will be on tying with synthetic materials, such as ghost fiber, streamer brushes and the use of metal fish heads, which are pushed and glued to the end of the fly. There are many varieties for both salt and fresh water. Roman will also demonstrate many fly tying tricks, resulting from decades of tying experience.
